LinkedIns Top Skills The Best Hard Soft Skills (and Jobs!) for 2018 Want to know the top skills for the 2018 job market and whether youre a match? Look no further than LinkedIns top skills list for 2018. No brainer: Computer stuff tops the chart for the third straight year with Cloud and Distributed Computing andà Statistical Analysis and Data Mining, in the #1 and #2 hottest hard skills, respectively. If youre a computer nerd, youre in luck. I found out something interesting today while talking to a fellow career coach, Ramon Santillan, Jr. He specializes in helping people on the autism and Aspergers scales, who have high levels of intelligence, get jobs at big tech and engineering firms. The skills in demand in the market might match well to some of their capabilities. Whats new on the 2018 top skills list is that LinkedIn has expanded into soft skills. Topping that list are Leadership and Communication, which for good reason are the personal attributes most in demand by employers today. One of my favorite places to increase both of those skills is the Wright Foundation for the Realization of Human Potential. Let me know if you want information about their trainings in leadership and social and emotional intelligence. LinkedIns List of Top Skills for 2018 Soft Skills Leadership: You may have heard that youre always leading. Its just a matter of toward what. Companies are looking for leaders who support and motivate the people around them, delegate vs. micromanage, assert themselves appropriately, and take swift action, all in service of organizational goals. Communication: Good communication includes such important skills as good use of language both in speech and in writing, speaking up when something needs to be discussed, following direction, asking the appropriate level of questions, following proper communication procedures, and more. Collaboration: Working with a team and having good give and take makes you a valued employee. Time Management: Meeting deadlines, being realistic about workload, and being able to prioritize projects are all essential to being a great team member. And so is communicating when things dont go as expected. Hard Skills I have less to say about the hard skills. They are all technology based and of tremendous importance for companies today, for obvious reasons. Heres a breakdown of whats hot and whats a little less hot as we head into 2018. Cloud and Distributed Computing: This skill has been #1 since it made its debut on the top 20 list in 2016. Statistical Analysis and Data Mining: Bumped out of the #1 spot when Cloud and Distributed Computing showed up, this skill has been holding at #2 for three years straight. Middleware and Integration Software: Has remained in the top 5 since 2015. Web Architecture and Development Framework: Steadily rising, but down one from the #3 spot this year. User Interface Design: This skill started at #14 in 2015, moved up to #10 in 2016, and remains at #5 for 2017 and 2018. Software Revision Control System: Welcome to the top 10! Data Presentation: In the top 10 for the last two years, this skill is up one from #8 to #7. SEO/SEM Marketing: Maybe people are losing faith in SEO, or figuring out how to do it themselves. This skill has dropped from the #4 and #5 spots it held in previous years. Mobile Development: Here I was thinking companies still needed people to develop apps. But mobile development has dropped steadily for the last three years, from #6 to #7 to #9 could this be the last year for this skill? Network and Information Security: Similar to Mobile Development, this one has been flirting with the #6 and higher spot for 3 years, but dropped this year. I cant believe there wont be a continuing strong need for this skill. LinkedIns List of Best Jobs for 2018 Want to know what jobs some of these hard and soft skills will get you? Connective Tissue Types and Examples As the name implies, connective tissue serves a connecting function. It supports and binds other tissues in the body. Unlike epithelial tissue, which has cells that are closely packed together, connective tissue typically has cells scattered throughout an extracellular matrix of fibrous proteins and glycoproteins attached to a basement membrane. The primary elements of connective tissue include a ground substance, fibers, and cells. There are three main groups of connective tissues:Loose connective tissue holds organs in place and attaches epithelial tissue to other underlying tissues.Dense connective tissue helps attach muscles to bones and link bones together at joints.Specialized connective tissue encompasses a number of different tissues with specialized cells and unique ground substances. Some are solid and strong, while others are fluid and flexible. Examples include adipose, cartilage, bone, blood, and lymph. The ground substance acts as a fluid matrix that suspends the cells and fibers within the particular connective tissue type. Connective tissue fibers and matrix are synthesized by specialized cells called fibroblasts. There are three main groups of connective tissues: loose connective tissue, dense connective tissue, and specialized connective tissue. Loose Connective Tissue This image of loose connective tissue shows collagenous fibers (red), elastic fibers (black), matrix, and fibroblasts (cells that produce the fibers). Ed Reschke/Photolibrary/Getty Images In vertebrates, the most common type of connective tissue is loose connective tissue. It holds organs in place and attaches epithelial tissue to other underlying tissues. Loose connective tissue is named so because of the weave and type of its constituent fibers. These fibers form an irregular network with spaces between the fibers. The spaces are filled with ground substance. The three main types of loose connective fibers include collagenous, elastic, and reticular fibers. Collagenous fibers are made of collagen and consist of bundles of fibrils that are coils of collagen molecules. These fibers help to strengthen connective tissue.Elastic fibersà are made of the protein elastin and are stretchable.à They help to give connective tissue elasticity.Reticular fibersà join connective tissues to other tissues. Loose connective tissues provide support, flexibility, and strength required to support internal organs and structures such as blood vessels, lymph vessels, and nerves. Dense Connective Tissue This image of the dermis of the skin shows dense fibrous connective tissue. Irregular collagenous fibers (pink) and fibroblast nuclei (purple) can be seen. Ed Reschke/Photolibrary/Getty Images Another type of connective tissue is dense or fibrous connective tissue, which can be found in tendons and ligaments. These structures help attach muscles to bones and link bones together at joints. Dense connective tissue is composed of large amounts of closely packed collagenous fibers. In comparison to loose connective tissue, dense tissue has a higher proportion of collagenous fibers to ground substance. It is thicker and stronger than loose connective tissue and forms a protective capsule layer around organs such as the liver and kidneys. Dense connective tissue can be categorized into dense regular, dense irregular, and elastic connective tissues. Dense regular: Tendons and ligaments are examples of dense regular connective tissue.Dense irregular: Much of the dermis layer of the skin is composed of dense irregular connective tissue. The membrane capsule surrounding several organs is also dense irregular tissue.Elastic: These tissues enable stretching in structures such as arteries, vocal cords, the trachea, and bronchial tubes in the lungs. Specialized Connective Tissues This image shows a sample of fat tissue with fat cells (adipocytes, blue) surrounded by fine strands of supportive connective tissue. Adipose tissue forms an insulating layer under the skin, storing energy in the form of fat. Steve Gschmeissner/Science Photo Library/Getty Images Specialized connective tissues include a number of different tissues with specialized cells and unique ground substances. Some of these tissues are solid and strong, while others are fluid and flexible. Examples include adipose, cartilage, bone, blood, and lymph. Adipose Tissue Adipose tissue is a form of loose connective tissue that stores fat. Adipose lines organs and body cavities to protect organs and insulate the body against heat loss. Adipose tissue also produces endocrine hormones that influence activities such as blood clotting, insulin sensitivity, and fat storage. The primary cells of adipose are adipocytes. These cells store fat in the form of triglycerides. Adipocytes appear round and swollen when fat is being stored and shrink as fat is used. Most adipose tissue is described as white adipose which functions in the storage of energy. Both brown and beige adipose burn fat and produce heat. Cartilage This micrograph shows hyaline cartilage, a semi-rigid connective tissue from a human trachea (windpipe). Steve Gschmeissner/Science Photo Library/Getty Images Cartilage is a form of fibrous connective tissue that is composed of closely packed collagenous fibers in a rubbery gelatinous substance called chondrin. The skeletons of sharks and human embryos are composed of cartilage. Cartilage also provides flexible support for certain structures in adult humans including the nose, trachea, and ears. There are three different types of cartilage, each with different characteristics. Hyaline cartilage is the most common type and is found in areas such as the trachea, ribs, and nose. Hyaline cartilage is flexible, elastic, and surrounded by a dense membrane called perichondrium. Fibrocartilage is the strongest type of cartilage and composed of hyaline and dense collagen fibers. It is inflexible, tough, and located in areas such as between vertebrae, in some joints, and in heart valves. Fibrocartilage does not have perichondrium. Elastic cartilage contains elastic fibers and is the most flexible type of cartilage. It is found in locations such as the ear and larynx (voice box). Bone Tissue This micrograph shows cancellous (spongy) bone from a vertebra. Cancellous bone is characterized by a honeycomb arrangement, comprising a network of trabeculae (rod-shaped tissue). These structures provide support and strength to the bone. Susumu Nishinaga/Science Photo Library/Getty Images Bone is a type of mineralized connective tissue that contains collagen and calcium phosphate, a mineral crystal. Calcium phosphate gives bone its firmness. There are two types of bone tissue: spongy and compact. Spongy bone, also called cancellous bone, gets its name because of its spongy appearance. The large spaces, or vascular cavities, in this type of bone tissue contain blood vessels and bone marrow. Spongy bone is the first bone type formed during bone formation and is surrounded by compact bone. Compact bone, or cortical bone, is strong, dense, and forms the hard outer bone surface. Small canals within the tissue allow for the passage of blood vessels and nerves. Mature bone cells, or osteocytes, are found in compact bone. Blood and Lymph This is a micrograph of a group of red blood cells (erythrocytes) traveling through an arteriole (small branch of an artery). P.M. Motta S. Correr/Science Photo Library/Getty Images Interestingly enough, blood is considered to be a type of connective tissue. Like other connective tissue types, blood is derived from mesoderm, the middle germ layer of developing embryos. Blood also serves to connect other organ systems together by supplying them with nutrients and transporting signal molecules between cells. Plasma is the extracellular matrix of blood with red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets suspended in the plasma. Lymph is another type of fluid connective tissue. This clear fluid originates from blood plasma that exits blood vessels at capillary beds. A component of the lymphatic system, lymph contains immune system cells that protect the body against pathogens. Lymph is delivered back to blood circulation via lymphatic vessels. Animal Tissue Types In addition to connective tissue, other tissue types of the body include: Epithelial Tissue: This tissue type covers body surfaces and lines body cavities providing protection and allowing for the absorption and secretion of substances.Muscle Tissue: Excitable cells capable of contraction allow muscle tissue to generate body movement.Nervous Tissue: This primary tissue of the nervous system allows for communication between various organs and tissues. It is composed of neurons and glial cells. Sources Animal Tissues - Bone. Atlas of Plant and Animal Histology, mmegias.webs.uvigo.es/02-english/guiada_a_oseo.php. Animal Tissues - Cartilage. Business Strategy (Viking Sewing Machines) - Case Study Example Company has reformulated its strategy documents, created new mission statement. The changes started with the change in the distribution network and to make retailers as dealer-partners and to motivate them to promote exclusively the company's products. In its biggest market (US) company collaborated with large retail chain Jo-Ann Fabrics and crafts and opened exclusive retail outlets. In its original country (Sweden) company has already a large retailer's network. In other parts, the company do not have exclusive retail network. Now in the changed situation company has to adopt different business strategies and analyze that whether these strategies are successful or not. Business strategies: There are three main success criterions for the companies Suitability, Acceptability and Feasibility, which could be analyzed as follow: Suitability: It is a broad criterion concerned with whether a strategy addresses the circumstances in which an organization is operating the strategic position. Suitability can be thought as the rationale of a strategy and whether it makes sense in relation to the strategic position of an organization. Feasibility: Feasibility is concerned with whether an organization has the resources and competences to deliver a strategy. A number of approaches can be used to understand feasibility. Financial feasibility and Resource deployment are the two important approaches generally used for feasibility analysis. Now we will analyze the company VSM on the basis of above mentioned three criteria. The mission statement, VSM has clearly defined its priorities as to develop, produce, market and sell consumer sewing machine and related products, creating demand, being a customer driven company through providing quality products, satisfy customers and dealers-partner alike, and continuously adding values to its brands. It specifically emphasized on employees satisfaction and growth opportunities by adding value to its human resources. Its ultimate aim was to be a leading premium company in the world of sewing. It basically aims towards consolidation of its position in the market. To achieve these objectives, company has to formulate its business strategies carefully after analyzing its core areas of competencies, its strategic positioning in the market as well as the various choices it have in its existing situation. For the next 5 years mainly company has to identify its areas of operations and production, marketing and distribution strategies, financial planning and prudence, ex pansion strategies, and careful evaluation of various choices it have to formulate its competition strategies to remain successful sewing manufacturing machine company. Strategies might be regarded as suitable from the point of view of: existing opportunities in the environment and avoiding threats; capitalizing on organizations strengths and avoiding or remedying weaknesses; addressing exceptions. The general environment of western market for sewing machine is becoming saturated and shrinking. Even industrial demands are going down and therefore professional and domestic sewing machine market seeing a slump. Therefore VSM group has an opportunity to expand in East European market and

Look at the Picture - Essay Example Possibly he and his partner, camera person, have taken a trip into the wild and have finally come to a point where they feel they need to capture the moment of their achievement. Again this does not fully explains why the boy holds a stack of stones in the picture. Why is the boy holding a bunch of stones with such pride as if he is holding a trophy? It could be that he has reached a place of significance, and the stones are from its rubbles. It could be a historical building which they have discovered. But if that were the case why have the boy and his partner taken a photograph of the stones and not of the building itself? This possibility could not be so. Perhaps it is not an old building but rather an old tree against which the boy is standing. The multiple layers of roots in the picture indicate that the place where the boy is standing is under a tree root or a trough of dirt. Maybe the boy is proud to have discovered an ancient tree which is about to collapse, and he wants to c apture the moment of discovery. The stones are merely mementos of the place, and he is proud of having discovered this minor but significant

The Creator Who Started the Trend of Vampire Bram Stoker was the author of the world-wide famous novel, Dracula (1897). He was born on November 8, 1847 in Dublin, Ireland. His full name was Abraham, but was called Bram for short. Unlike todayââ¬â¢s families, he grew up living with seven siblings. When he was young, he was an enfeebled child bedridden for his first 8 years. His father, Abraham Stoker (1799-1876), was a civil servant ââ¬â someone who works for the government ââ¬â and his mother was Charlotte Mathilda Blake Thornley (1818-1901). He married actress Florence Baleombe (1858-1937) in 1878. Stoker and Florence had one son named Irving Noel Thornley Stoker (1879-1961). (Merriman, 1) Even though Stoker was a sallow child, he eventually recovered and was able to attend Trinity College to study a variety of subjects. He studied mathematics, participated in sports, and was designated a spot on the school council as president of the Philosophical Society. He graduated with honors in 1870. (Merriman, 1) Due to his fatherââ¬â¢s occupation, Bram Stoker himself became a civil servant while reviewing dramatic theater. As the first pilgrims arrived at Plymouth Rock and had a feast with the Indians, they shared a moment of thanks together. They gave thanks for all their blessings, thus, creating our lovely day of Thanksgiving. When Thanksgiving is thought of, the first thing that comes to mind is turkey and a plentiful amount of food. Thanksgiving to me, is the time to be together with the ones you care about. Coming together for a day to just be with each other and to catch up is what Thanksgiving means to me. Family should be with each other to share memories and to realize the plentiful amount of blessings they have been given. Thanksgiving is not only a day for gorging on food or falling into a food coma, but talking with each other and just being glad to be with one another. Having family during Thanksgiving is a crucial part in my life. Having all of my relatives in one place for one day to talk and have fun with them makes Thanksgiving extra special for me. It is one of the few days of the year that I get to see everybody. The turkey, yams, cranberry sauce, mashed potatoes is just the icing on the cake. Everybody in my family loves the food. We eat and eat until we canââ¬â¢t eat anymore. My family has a tradition of playing soccer afterwards but that goes only so far due to our full stomachs. My cousins and I play a friendly game of poker, afterwards our failed attempts for soccer, for first dibs on dessert. After a good game of poker, my cousins and I look for ways to entertain ourselves meanwhile the adults talk about their lives and brag about their kids. Society today makes Thanksgiving look like a day just to eat. As society advances the meaning of Thanksgiving deteriorates into a secular holiday. The meaning of Thanksgiving seems obsolete. I truly believe that Thanksgiving should be refreshed in its meaning and should be celebrated with family and love. As people come together to share a special day in our history, this should be a day which people will not take for granted.

Word Count: 1473 Gupta, Charu. 2001. Sexuality, Obscenity, Community: Women, Muslims and the Hindu Public in Colonial India. Delhi: Permanent Black Charu Guptaââ¬â¢s work, ââ¬ËSexuality, Obscenity, Community: Women, Muslims and the Hindu Public in Colonial Indiaââ¬â¢, published in 2001, provides an enlightening view on themes including gender, sexuality and religion, all in the context of the British Colonialism and the rise of the Hindu nationalist ideology. In the second chapter, ââ¬ËRedefining obscenity in Aesthetics and Printââ¬â¢, Gupta focuses on the ââ¬Å"moral panicâ⬠in Colonial India regarding representations of sexuality and ideas of obscenity in print. (p.30) She examines the attempts made by British Colonial and Hindu moralists to utilize printed literature in order to promote a civilised, celibate society, and scrutinizes the ways in which this was used to police and discredit particularly female, but also male sexual and social identities. Gupta then sets this against the apparent obscenity and semi-pornographic nature of popular literature, and argues that this provided a ââ¬Å"serious chall engeâ⬠to the moralist mind-set by resisting and inverting the eliteââ¬â¢s attempts to control the Hindu public. (p.30) This view provides an insightful understanding of the diversities and consistencies of print culture, and throughout the chapter, Gupta corroborates her points utilizing a broad range of literary and textual evidence, including books, poems, pamphlets, songs and advertisements, whichShow MoreRelatedModern Bollywood, A Decade Old: Bollywood and the Colonial Censorship3158 Words à |à 13 Pagesgovernment.
